1 FLIGHT TO SEATTLE | DINNER:
This morning we will be transferred to the airport for our flight to Seattle. Upon our arrival, we will be met by a Christian Tours motorcoach. Tonight you will be our guest for a special welcome dinner. (D)
2 SEATTLE CITY TOUR | OLYMPIA | PORTLAND:
This morning we take a guided tour of the impressive and beautiful city of Seattle. Highlights will include the world famous Space Needle and a visit to Pike Place Farmer’s Market, the oldest continuously operated market in the country. Early afternoon we travel near majestic Mt. St. Helens. On a clear day we’ll be able to see the mountain and make pictures. We cross the mighty Columbia River to Portland (City of Roses), Oregon’s largest city. We spend two nights in the city.
3 PORTLAND | MT. HOOD LOOP | COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE | BONNEVILLE DAM | FISHLOCKS & LADDERS | MULTNOMAH FALLS | ROSE TEST GARDENS | DINNER:
Today we enjoy an exciting day of touring in the Portland area. First on the agenda is the Mt. Hood Loop to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Here we see Mt. Hood, Oregon’s highest peak, dominating the horizon of the forest-covered slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Next we visit Bonneville Dam and see its fishlocks and ladders. In the spring and fall huge runs of salmon, steelhead and other migratory fish use the ladders to continue upstream and spawn. We’ll also see spectacular Multnomah Falls, tumbling some 620 feet. We return to Portland where we have time to visit the American International Rose Test Gardens with varieties from across the globe. Dinner is included this evening. (D)
4 SALEM | STATE CAPITOL | CRATER LAKE | DINNER:
This morning we continue south through Salem, Oregon’s capital city. We drive by the Capitol Building, a beautiful marble structure of modern design. Then we travel through Eugene, the second largest metropolitan area in Oregon. Our route takes us through the Willamette National Forest and over 5,128-foot Willamette Pass. Cradled at the crest of the Cascade Range we’ll find the jewel known as Crater Lake. Crater Lake was formed nearly 6,600 years ago, leaving the walls rising 2,200 feet in places around the shoreline of this 1,962-foot deep, amazingly blue lake. We enjoy dinner together tonight. (D)
5 OREGON CONNECTION TOUR | COOS BAY:
Our destination today is Coos Bay, the international port that ranks among the world’s largest wood products exporting centers. We visit the Oregon Connection factory, where many different myrtlewood products are produced. Watch the manufacturing process, from log to the finished product, and then we have time for shopping before we check into our hotel for the evening.
6 ROGUE RIVER WILDERNESS JET BOAT EXCURSION | REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK:
As we travel south along the rugged Pacific coast we will make picture stops. A cruise up the spectacular Rogue River will take us into Oregon’s rugged wilderness to see bald eagles, cormorants, seals and blue herons. Soon we enter the redwood country of California. Lunch is included today. Stops will be made in Redwood National Park, where the redwood trees are so tall they actually block out the sun from the forest floor. California’s motto is “Eureka” ---I found it! Tonight we spend the night in Eureka, the port for the largest fishing fleet north of San Francisco Bay. (L)
7 “AVENUE OF THE GIANTS” | GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE | SAN FRANCISCO:
This morning we drive through Eureka viewing its unique Victorian architecture. We then proceed through more redwood forests, including the “Avenue of the Giants.” This afternoon we travel through the famous Napa Valley wine-growing region of California. See acres and acres of grapes as they await the harvest. A short drive takes us across the legendary Golden Gate Bridge into everyone’s favorite city, San Francisco, for a two-night stay. Tonight you may stroll through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Cannery, and nearby Ghirardelli Square or even catch a cablecar to Union Square.
8 SAN FRANCISCO CITY TOUR | GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE | CHINATOWN | FISHERMAN’S WHARF | ALCATRAZ | DINNER:
Nearly everyone who comes to San Francisco falls in love with it. From the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island to the far side of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most beautiful bridge in the world, our city tour this morning will see it all. Tour highlights include the “painted ladies” Victorian Homes, Civic Center area, Union Square, Alamo Square, Lombard streetview, the Golden Gate Bridge, Nob Hill, China Town, Coit Tower, the Presidio and more. We catch a boat out to “The Rock,” Alcatraz, once home to such outlaws as Al Capone, “Machine Gun” Kelly, and public enemy #1 Robert Stroud, known as the “Birdman of Alcatraz.” Tonight we enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the many fine restaurants at Fisherman’s Wharf. (D)
9 HOME:
All good things must come to an end, so this morning we are transported to the airport for our flight home.
